Nosebleed Convenience Kits

Step1.jpg

Identify which side the nosebleed is occurring with the patient in an upright position.  Utilize a headlight, Frazier tip suction and a nasal speculum to adequately visualize inside of the nose and determine whether the site appears to be an anterior or posterior bleed. Open either an Anterior NozPak or a Posterior NozPak based on assessment.

Step2.jpg

Remove all contents of kit from packages and arrange on tray.

Step3.jpg

Apply thin film of Bacitracin over the PVA pack.

Step4.jpg

Decongest the involved side of the nose with Oxymetazoline per label or as directed by a Physician.

Step5.jpg

With gentle dilation of nasal opening with a nasal speculum, insert the PVA pack into the nose sliding it along the floor of the nose. If resistance, redirect and reinsert until the front of the pack is beyond the nostril opening.

Step6.jpg

Further decongest the nose on the involved side, with the PVA pack in place, using additional Oxymetazoline per label or as directed by a Physician.

Step7.jpg

Apply external nose clamp to base of nose and do not remove for at least 10 minutes.

Step8.jpg

Remove external nose clamp and assess for any further significant bleeding. If bleeding continues, consider removing the pack, visualizing site and consider additional management options.

Step9.jpg

When bleeding is adequately controlled, Apply the nasal drip pad below the nose/upper lip region to catch expected sero-bloody drainage.
